Isola, das steht für die sommerliche Färbung, die in all unseren Songs präsent ist. Wir wollten Musik machen, die uns positiv stimmt - die beiden Opener "Lifted" und "Lobster" sind gute Beispiele dafür. Gleichzeitig denken wir bei Isola aber auch an das Bild des schiffbrüchigen Einsiedlers, der isoliert von allem anderen über sich selbst nachdenkt. Aus diesem Gefühl sind etwa Songs wie "Tired Awake" oder "Trippin" entstanden, die den Blick nach innen richten. Das Inselmotiv steht nicht zuletzt auch für den Entstehungsprozess der EP, bei dem Ideen von der einen Insel Hamburg zur anderen Insel Berlin und zurück geschickt wurden. Während des Lockdowns waren wir ja tatsächlich voneinander abgeschnitten. Auf Isola, unserer gemeinsamen Insel, kommt alles wieder zusammen, sowohl die fünf Songs als auch wir vier Musiker als BILBAO.

The name Isola stands for the summerish vibe which is present in all of our songs. We wanted to create a positive energy through the music - something which is especially embodied by the two opening tracks Lifted and Lobster.
At the same time we connect Isola with the image of a robinsonian hermit who’s reflecting about himself while being completely isolated. This led us to write songs like Tired Awake and Trippin’, which are quite introspective. The island motive also represents the whole process of writing the songs in two different cities, Hamburg and Berlin, which really felt like being on separate islands during the time of the pandemic. Isola became our new found island: the place were everything is coming together – not only those five songs but also us four musicians as the group BILBAO.
